Flow Measurement Lab

Three instruments, one shared fluid. A Venturi reads a differential across a contraction, a Pitot reads a stagnation difference at a point, and an orifice discharges under a head. They are compared side by side, but never merged: each keeps its own equation and its own assumptions.

The fluid and the device

Shared by every principle on this bench.

  • Steady, incompressible flow between the upstream section and the throat.
  • Continuity A1V1 = A2V2 with the stated areas; elevations are included explicitly.
  • The discharge coefficient is prescribed, not predicted.
